Flares Over Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire

2nd August 2005

This video was recorded on 2nd August 2005. I had spent the day visiting family in Marden and the nearby crop formation that had been created in the field to the right of the road down which I was driving. I recorded this video from inside the Land Rover, hence the noise.

The smoke trails are clearly visible in this footage.

Whilst staying in the area around Alton Barnes in Wiltshire, I would often go up to Knap Hill to watch for any "aerial activity." The area is renowned for the high incidence of crop formations and sightings of anomalous lights.

On one occasion in 1997 I was sitting in the dark in the parking area with the munchings of Friesian cattle all around me, when suddenly several brilliant illuminations appeared. I picked up my video camera and recorded about 10 seconds of very distant footage on that occasion, but nothing as clear as the video above.

The colour of the lights was brilliant amber and there was no sign of any smoke trails from that great distance where I was located up at Knap Hill.

I can see why people might confuse these type of illuminations with those of orbs or other phenomena.

However, these lights appeared, drifted slightly downwind, and then disappeared. Orbs tend to move around with some deliberation. Flares tend to drift.
